About Veterans With Dogs

About
A non profit organisation working with Veterans through dog companionship to enhance quality of life, especially those with trauma related illnesses.
Mission to support former members of the British Armed Forces, whose psychological or physical wellbeing may have suffered due to difficult past experiences and challenging life circumstances, via engagement with their dogs.
‘Veterans with Dogs’ works to support Veterans who are aspiring to increase their general level of functioning and independence by helping them to regain their sense of purpose, (self) worth and engagement with their communities and sense of value to society, by helping them develop new skills together with their companion dog.
‘Veterans with Dogs’ aims to provide a supportive, comfortable environment where people may find an opportunity to socialise with others, capitalise on shared learning experiences, develop their coping strategies, and build new friendships and lasting support networks.

Company Overview
Working with dogs and training for companionship in order to increase the quality of life for Veterans.
We understand and embrace the value of companionship that dog ownership brings to Veterans and their families, and we exist to promote and enhance these relationships.
Description We have attained legal status with charitable status for the purpose of founding an organisation that recognises the value of dog ownership; promoting an increased sense of self worth and personal confidence, and engendering a sense of achievement from ownership activities.
General information
Veterans health and wellbeing, and that of their dogs, can be promoted through engagement in ownership activities, via participation, and in a network of strong mutual support.
VWD recognises the therapeutic bond that exists between Veterans and their dogs and that the organisation will expand awareness of this; as social support, providing non-judgemental companionship and enhancing quality of life.
Responsible dog ownership and care will be encouraged by the existence and work of the charity.
The quality of Veterans lives, and that of their dogs, is central to all that the charity stands for.
